When you think about prayer, what do you think about – someone on their knees? Someone praying out loud at a prayer meeting? Someone silently saying prayers for others or themselves?
The beauty of prayer is that it can be all these things. Our Father has given us a beautiful gift here.
Think about it – how often does the internet connection at your home or business either go offline or run slowly?
Our prayer line NEVER goes down. It is a 24/7 secure connection that is always online. And we do not need a modem or mobile device to access it.
The Lord is always there, waiting for us. He wants to hear from us – to hear our concerns, our worries, our hopes for ourselves and everyone on our hearts.
We can go to him anytime and anywhere. In my personal prayer life, I find that I can talk to him while walking, doing other tasks, even driving (yes, I do pay attention to traffic and what I am doing!).
It is vital that we spend time with God on a daily basis. And when we do, it is just as important that we also use our prayer time to LISTEN TO HIM! He speaks to our hearts and our minds and guides us, if we “let go and let God”.
Earlier in Ephesians, we are told to put on the full armor of God. Brothers and Sisters, we are engaged in a spiritual war against sin and the forces of evil in this world. We cannot buckle that armor securely unless we are actively involved in an intimate prayer conversation with our Lord.
So, this Lenten season, if you are not doing so already, please spend time every day with the Lord in prayer. Lift up your concerns and remember to lift up your praises when He answers. Your spiritual life will be enriched beyond belief!
And, whenever you are troubled in spirit, remember His words, “Be still and know that I am God”.
