Day 23

Monday March 31

62 Now Isaac had come from Beer Lahai Roi, for he was living in the Negev. 63 He went out to the field one evening to meditate, and as he looked up, he saw camels approaching. 64 Rebekah also looked up and saw Isaac. She got down from her camel 65 and asked the servant, “Who is that man in the field coming to meet us?” …

– Genesis 24:62-67

Folks we are living in a time of distraction and haste within the culture that surrounds us. We see this as evident by the effects of cellphones, TV, and radios in our cars. The truth is that with all the noise that surrounds us, it is of ever-increasing volume and veracity that we have very little time in our lives to slow down and calmly meditate on scripture. It is also the case that we have very little time to invite our Father into our lives either to hear him or to invite his discernment to befall us concerning the events and goings on in our world. We see that in the selection of verses in chapter 24 of Genesis. We see all through this passage our Father preparing a blessing for Isaac with his wife. We see the servant of Abraham following through with our Fathers plan even with the Solitude of that long journey. We have two lessons here that would benefit us greatly to understand. The one lesson is of faith and trust of our Father through isolation of oneself and the Solitude that comes from it as Abraham’s servant embodies in his oath. The other is that sometimes we have to have silence to understand our Fathers plans and to know what he has in store for us. The lessons here are of great importance to our walk of faith. This shows us all that for us to effectively walk in the faith we have to be not only able to hear our Father but we also have to put ourselves into a situation where we can have the quiet contemplation on our Fathers plan for us.

Actions for Today

  • Take a break from your phone and TV and spend some time in prayer. Invite the Father into your heart and mind today to hear and enjoy the time spent with Him
  • Take some time today to spend some time alone with some of your favorite scriptures and dwell on them
  • Sit silently with our Father and let His word come to you
Wednesday April 02

1 The hand of the LORD was on me, and he brought me out by the Spirit of the LORD and set me in the middle of a valley; it was full of bones. 2 He led me back and forth among them, and I saw a great many bones on the floor of the valley, bones that were very dry. 3 He asked me, “Son of man, can these bones live?” I said, “Sovereign LORD, you alone know.” …

– Ezekiel 37:1-6
