Day 22

Saturday March 29

34 And his master was angry, and delivered him to the torturers until he should pay all that was due to him. 35 “So My heavenly Father also will do to you if each of you, from his heart, does not forgive his brother his trespasses.”

– Matthew 18:34-35

When you have been hurt and are angry, do you forgive the person that has hurt you? Do you punish the person by not forgiving him? How can I forgive a person that has done ……. to me?

When you try and punish someone that has hurt you, how do you feel? Does the pain of the hurt go away? No, it does not and may even increase. Have you ever said you forgive someone but deep within your heart you make another decision to not forgive? When you hold unforgiveness in your heart you continue to suffer.

God knows the sin of unforgiveness will choke the very life out of our souls. He permits us to experience discomfort for the sole purpose of bringing us to a place where we forgive ourselves and others. The misery caused by our unforgiveness can painfully affect our lives in many ways.

God never wants to deliver anyone into his discipline for our unforgiveness. That painful course is determined solely by our choosing. When we forgive in our heart, the sentence of discipline is over and the suffering we have been experiencing ceases.

Prayer:
Dear God, please help me to forgive others. It is hard when I am hurt. You have forgiven me of all my sins through your Son, Jesus Christ. Help me to remember that when I am struggling to forgive another person. In Jesus name, Amen.

Monday March 31

62 Now Isaac had come from Beer Lahai Roi, for he was living in the Negev. 63 He went out to the field one evening to meditate, and as he looked up, he saw camels approaching. 64 Rebekah also looked up and saw Isaac. She got down from her camel 65 and asked the servant, “Who is that man in the field coming to meet us?” …

21 They preached the gospel in that city and won a large number of disciples. Then they returned to Lystra, Iconium and Antioch, 22 strengthening the disciples and encouraging them to remain true to the faith. “We must go through many hardships to enter the kingdom of God,” they said. 23 Paul and Barnabas appointed elders for them in each church and, with prayer and fasting, committed them to the Lord, in whom they had put their trust. 24 After going through Pisidia, they came into Pamphylia, 25 and when they had preached the word in Perga, they went down to Attalia.
