Day 15

Friday March 21

7 But blessed are those who trust in the LORD and have made the LORD their hope and confidence. 8 They are like trees planted along a riverbank, with roots that reach deep into the water. Such trees are not bothered by the heat or worried by long months of drought. Their leaves stay green, and they never stop producing fruit.

– Jeremiah 17:7-8

What a beautiful picture of what happens when we place our trust in the LORD. But don’t you find that it is easy to say, beautiful to read, sounds soothing, peaceful and rewarding. But yet in day-to-day life, I find myself always wanting to fall back and rely on myself. I mean God made me smart and strong right? And I really don’t need to worry or bother Almighty God, Creator of the universe, Sustainer of all life, Provider of all that is good, with my petty little needs. Surely almighty God has much bigger fish to fry, so I just need to handle my troubles on my own. That is the trap I have dealt with all my life. Failing to rely on God’s Holy Spirit and the help He offers for every situation we confront as we go through life.

Lord, forgive me of the sin of self-reliance and not submitting to you. Help me to realize that you made me and love me and want to be a part of my life minute by minute. That your desire is that I would send my roots down deep into you, Your Goodness and Your Love, Your provision, Your Guidance. And if I will but submit and lean on your everlasting arms, everything will turn out for the best.

Friday March 28

21 They preached the gospel in that city and won a large number of disciples. Then they returned to Lystra, Iconium and Antioch, 22 strengthening the disciples and encouraging them to remain true to the faith. “We must go through many hardships to enter the kingdom of God,” they said. 23 Paul and Barnabas appointed elders for them in each church and, with prayer and fasting, committed them to the Lord, in whom they had put their trust. 24 After going through Pisidia, they came into Pamphylia, 25 and when they had preached the word in Perga, they went down to Attalia.

– Acts 14:21-25

23 Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters …

– Colossians 3:23
Wednesday March 26

1 Blessed is the one
whose transgressions are forgiven,

2 Blessed is the one

and in whose spirit is no deceit …
