Day 14

Thursday March 20

6 Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

– Philippians 4:6-7

I love that Philippians is known as Paul’s Joy letter! And to think that it was written while he was in prison is amazing. Could you see yourself in such a state of mind in such a place? Focusing on these verses, you know that Paul wrote that experience!

Do not be anxious about anything – ANYTHING! Nothing. Not. One. thing.

Whether it’s a major life decision, work or school problem, difficult situation, or the silliest, smallest issue that is bothering you – don’t keep it inside to fester. How much are you fretting over things that you have no control over? God is interested in all your concerns, no matter who you are. Presidents to peasants. Rich and famous to the forgotten. He doesn’t care about your station in life. God loves us all and cares about all our concerns.

BUT, in everything, pray.

Bring your worries and fears to God, along with expressing thanks for His faithfulness and provision, knowing that He will help and guide you through these. Any time you feel anxious, stop and pray! It will help you to focus on the fact that God is in control. He will settle you down.

AND the peace of God…will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.

When you pray, you are opening your heart and mind to the peace of God that can miraculously calm your soul in an instant. We can comprehend the peace of God, but we cannot replicate it. The situation or thing may not disappear immediately, but God’s peace will stand guard for you. He provides a perfect peace within our imperfect minds.

I found this quote from M.R. Vincent, a Presbyterian minister from the 1800’s wrote: “Peace is the fruit of believing prayer.” Reflect on that for a moment in relation to these verses.

The verse (4) before these states to “Rejoice in the Lord, ALWAYS”. I don’t think this is possible unless you actively take part in these verses. How can you be joyful and rejoice always if you are being suffocated with worries and troubles? Not worrying, but praying instead, allows you to be able to rejoice always because you have God’s peace within, lifting you above the worry, keeping you focused, protected and positive.

So, don’t worry, PRAY!

Monday March 31

62 Now Isaac had come from Beer Lahai Roi, for he was living in the Negev. 63 He went out to the field one evening to meditate, and as he looked up, he saw camels approaching. 64 Rebekah also looked up and saw Isaac. She got down from her camel 65 and asked the servant, “Who is that man in the field coming to meet us?” …

– Genesis 24:62-67
Saturday March 29

34 And his master was angry, and delivered him to the torturers until he should pay all that was due to him. 35 “So My heavenly Father also will do to you if each of you, from his heart, does not forgive his brother his trespasses.”

– Matthew 18:34-35
Friday March 28

21 They preached the gospel in that city and won a large number of disciples. Then they returned to Lystra, Iconium and Antioch, 22 strengthening the disciples and encouraging them to remain true to the faith. “We must go through many hardships to enter the kingdom of God,” they said. 23 Paul and Barnabas appointed elders for them in each church and, with prayer and fasting, committed them to the Lord, in whom they had put their trust. 24 After going through Pisidia, they came into Pamphylia, 25 and when they had preached the word in Perga, they went down to Attalia.

– Acts 14:21-25
